Officials on Indonesia say a wooden boat with nearly 200 people on board has been found drifting off Sumatra island.

Local navy commander Yanuar Handwiyono says the boat carried 174 people from Burma and 19 from Bangladesh.

The vessel was found at sea by fishermen off the coast of Aceh province.

Commander Handwiyono says the boat people had been adrift for one week and nearly half are being treated in hospital for dehydration.

Aceh police said the boat people were believed to be heading for Malaysia.
