Nobel Peace Prize winner Desmond Tutu to visit Solomon Islands


The Nobel Peace Prize-winning South African cleric Desmond Tutu has been invited to Solomon Islands to help set up a Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) in the country.

The now-retired Archbishop help set up South Africa’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission following the apartheid era.

Solomon Times reports former Archbishop Tutu is expected to arrive at the end of April.

Solomon Islands Education Minister Matthew Wale says the invitation for Desmond Tutu’s visit is part of the government’s commitment towards peace and reconciliation.
