Solomons Islands’ Swire Shipping has announced a major enhancement to its services to South-East Asia.
The Solomon Star reports that from the middle of June, the shipping company will operate a 10-vessel service from the Solomons and Papua New Guinea, offering significantly improved frequencies and transit times.
The journey time from Singapore to Lae will drop from 12 days to seven days.
The transit time to Honiara will fall from 23 days to 11.
Swire Shipping’s Adrian Butler says the company can now offer customers trading on the South-East Asia route a premier service.
He adds that the upgrade will offer greater cargo capacity and improved reliability.
