Police in French Polynesia have released the former president, Gaston Tong Sang, and his partner after questioning them for over 30 hours as part of an investigation into the misuse of funds from the post and telecommunications office.
Several high profile figures including the head of the H-2 Advertising company and the secretary of Senator Gaston Flosse have been arrested as part of the probe and spent up to four months in prison.
Local media reports suggest that Mr Tong Sang and Romina Pinson were questioned about a property transaction linked to Mr Flosse.
The investigators have also searched the offices of Mr Flosse's lawyer, his party offices and the Socredo bank in the territory's capital Papeete.
