Outrage in the Philippines over political massacre
Last Updated:
The Philippine government has vowed to punish those responsible for what is thought to be a politically related massacre in the southern province of Maguindanao.
More then 20 bodies have been recovered, but the army says the death toll is likely to rise.
The killings occurred after more than 40 people, including a big group of journalists, were abducted by a hundred armed men.
Their target is said to have been a woman who was planning to file her husband's nomination for governor.
Local media are reporting that the kidnappers could be linked to a rival political family.
Australia goes to the polls on August 21.
