A visit by Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to Papua New Guinea has been hailed a success by PNG Prime Minister, Sir Michael Somare.

But many were disappointed Presidnet Yudhoyono decided not to address the PNG parliament.

During his two-day visit, the Indonesian leader discussed key issues such as climate change and the Coral Triangle Initiative - on marine resources - with Prime Minister Somare.

The two government heads also signed two memorandums of understanding on more active defence cooperation and a double taxation agreement, and exchanged letters on agriculture and border developments.

Before his departure, President Yudhoyono had lunch at the Indonesian embassy with members of the Indonesian community in Port Moresby.
