Flooding in Pakistan and Afghanistan kills hundreds

Nearly 500 people have been killed and hundreds of thousands stranded by fierce flooding in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Landsides and flash flooding have destroyed buildings, roads and bridges in Pakistani-controlled Kashmir and the Khyber district.
The north-western city of Peshawar has been cut off and hundreds of holiday makers have been stranded in the Swat Valley.
The Pakistani army is leading the rescue effort, but many villages are yet to receive help.
More than 300 milimetres of rain has fallen in the past 36 hours and more is expected over the weekend.
Severe flooding has also killed dozens of people in eastern Afghanistan.
